Hey y'all, I just got off the phone with four-star guard Travis Perry. I didn't want to call him immediately after the visit, because of course it would be positive stuff. I like waiting a few days, to let the trip sink in and see what he really remembers most.

As I said before, I think this is a two-horse race between UC and Michigan and that's especially the case now that Kentucky got a commitment last week from five-star point guard Boogie Fland. Perry was already not a top option there, so now that Fland is on board with UK, I think Perry is no longer a take. That said, I'd imagine the Wildcats are still slow-playing him as a backup and possibly even a walk-on. But as we all know, he's much better than a walk on.
Perry told me a lot about getting to see things he didn't see before. I know he spent a lot of time with Rayvon Griffith and Dan Skillings and it seems like the visit overall went about as well as the Bearcats could've hoped for. Perry got on campus on Friday, went to dinner with the staff, then on Saturday, was at the football game. On Sunday morning, he got to watch practice and said he spent about an hour and a half with coach Wes Miller and assistants Andre Morgan and Drew Adams talking x's and o's. Perry told me the coaches reiterated they see him as a perfect fit for the offense and with his shooting ability, he'd be a great compliment to guys like Skillings and Jizzle James.
"Coming in and playing seamlessly, how we play, that’s part of their pitch, playing with freedom, playing fast and making quick decisions," Perry told me. "I’d just be coming in there to win and doing it at a high level."
Last week, Perry told me he was excited for his parents to finally see UC. Multiple guys on the UC staff reminded me that his parents did visit with him for the Memphis game in January. Nevertheless, Perry told me his parents enjoyed the visit. He told me multiple times about "seeing where the players live," so that appears to be a big sticking point.
Overall, Perry told me he really likes UC, both as a basketball program and academically. He even mentioned the Bearcats' training staff and strength and conditioning staff.
A reminder, Perry is still set to officially visit Michigan this weekend. That's his second official there, after one in September. my takeaway is that he really likes Michigan, but wants to compare it one more time to UC. He doesn't have a date set to commit, but told me early November. No more official visits planned, so I'd imagine it could be as soon as next week, but no later than that first full week in November.
If I had to say, I'd say it's 60/40 in favor of the Bearcats right now. But again, this weekend is big. And while I don't think Ole Miss is top of mind, I have heard that Chris Beard is still reaching out to Perry, so don't count them out.
Full story coming.
