OT: Pac-2, Mountain West Merger?

I know this isn't UC specifically related, but just a fascinating idea being floated right now with the Mountain West and Oregon State/Washington State. Story from Ross Dellenger on a potential relegation/promotion style setup:

Hey guys, I caught up with one of UC's newest offers, 2024 OL Aiden Pastoriza, whom UC offered over the weekend. He's been committed to Central Michigan since June.
Login to view embedded media Pastoriza got the offer from the Bearcats when he visited for their game against Miami (OH). He told me he's been in contact with offensive line coach Nic Cardwell for a few weeks now. "I absolutely loved everything with him," Pastoriza said. So, it sounds like their relationship has gone well.

The visit itself was Pastoriza's first visit to UC. He told me he loved the atmosphere, how raucous the crowd was and just the overall atmosphere with the team, the fans, the university and the city. He's interested enough that he told me he wants to set up an official visit for later in the fall, maybe even December, just before signing day.

Right now, it's just UC and Central Michigan here. It wouldn't surprise me for other schools to get involved late and I think Pastoriza thinks that, too. So while he loves the offer, he's not jumping the hun and committing right away. It will be interesting to see how soon Pastoriza gets back for an official. But for now, the odds have gone pretty far up for the Bearcats.

Full story coming.

FB Recruiting ***INsider: Jackson Wiley***

Hey y'all, I caught up with one of UC's visitors from the EKU game (new thread coming for this weekend), Olentangy (OH) three-star WR Jackson Wiley. No Bearcats offer yet, but he has five right now, from Kentucky, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Miami (OH) and Toledo.
Login to view embedded media Wiley told me he loved the atmosphere for what was his first campus visit to UC since the new staff arrival at the end of last year. He told me he's talked with Jack Griffith, the Bearcats' director of player personnel and in the recruiting office. But Wiley said he's also spoken with coach Scott Satterfield and offensive coordinator Brad Glenn a couple of times, too. With all three coaches, Wiley said he likes how conversational everything is. "It's a normal conversation that I'd have with a friend or someone I trust," he told me. Overall, Wiley said he'd be very interested if an offer comes, so we'll see. I know he's on the board, but not sure how high.

Next weekend (Sept. 23), Wiley said he'll be at Penn State for its whiteout game against Iowa. He also told me he's loosely planned to be at Kentucky Sept. 30 when it hosts Florida. The Wildcats have offered and Wiley seems to like what he's heard there. I'm not sure if it's committable at the moment, though. But there's definitely strong interest.

Football Paul Hornung Award honor roll

Forgot to post this yesterday, but UC's Braden Smith made the list this week. Here's specifically what was said about him:

Cincinnati senior WR Braden Smith touched the football four different ways in a 27-21 victory at Pittsburgh. He had five receptions for 59 yards, including a diving 21-yard scoring catch in the third quarter that became the Bearcats’ winning touchdown. Three of Smith’s catches produced first downs. He also completed a 30-yard pass to the Pittsburgh seven-yard line to set up a score. Smith returned two punts for five yards and made one tackle following an interception.
