Guys, got a little INsider on New Years Eve for you. I caught up with Mooresville (NC) 2025 linebacker Jamari Farmer, whom UC offered on Dec. 7.

It's early here, as the Bearcats are Farmer's only offer. He's never been to UC, but said he'll be at the Bearcats' junior day on Jan. 27. He also told me he's looking forward to seeing the basketball game that day, too. And so far, it sounds like Farmer has a lot of interest and likes what he's seen with them.

The main coach here is assistant coach Cortney Braswell. Farmer said the offer came quick. Braswell told him with about a day's notice that he was gonna see Farmer and offered when he visited. Farmer told me they've been texting a lot and he's excited to talk more and see campus when he visits.

Again, still quite early here, since UC is the only offer. No other visits planned, but Farmer said he wants to see Wake Forest and East Carolina this spring, both of which he visited for games this fall. But I'd imagine at least, he'll get a few offers this spring.

Full story coming this week.

Hoops Fritz Meyer Passes Away

Always hate when something like this happens this time of year. But UC announced the passing of former Bearcat Fritz Meyer:

The Cincinnati men's basketball program is saddened to report that Fritz Meyer, a member of the 1963 national runner-up team and prominent alumni liaison, has passed away at 80.

Meyer helped lead Cincinnati's Elder High School to its first undefeated regular season and No. 1 state ranking coming to UC. He was on the freshman team when the Bearcats claimed the 1962 repeat national title. Meyer and several other members of that era began weekly Wednesday McDonald's meetings in St. Bernard, as chronicled in the Cincinnati Enquirer, that welcomed alumni of all decades.

"I've had the pleasure of spending time with Fritz over the last two years," head coach Wes Miller said. "He cared deeply about our community, our university and our basketball program. His connection with his National Championship teammates was special. We are saddened by his sudden passing and our thoughts and condolences are with Fritz's family and friends."

Meyer, a three-year letterwinner, was a sophomore on the 1963 squad, UC's fifth-straight Final Four team. He also played an instrumental role in organizing this summer's 1961 championship watch party at the Mariemont Theatre, alumni golf outings and many more endeavors. Meyer also served as a longtime Hamilton County jury commissioner.

Details on services will be made available on GoBearcats.com when available.

Football New 2027 Opponent

Hey all, I'll admit, in all the hoopla yesterday, I completely missed this. UC is set to play West Georgia in 2027. West Georgia is transitioning to the FCS level from Division II and will be in the Atlantic Sun next season:
