The only consensus team in Big 12 expansion is Cincinnati and the leadership of the Big 12 agrees expansion will happen, but the questions remain will it be 12 or 14 or 16 and who else gets invited to the party besides the Bearcats. Big 12 meetings wrapped up today and they will meet again later in the month when a plan could come out.

Art Briles talked to today about how his team was screwed out of the playoffs two years ago because of the lack of a Big 12 Championship game. CBS sports says if they have a Big 12 championship game that increases odds 10-15% of making a playoff in a tie breaker situation like 2014.

Every scenario I have seen has Cincinnati in and then there is the question of 12, 13, 14 or more.

UConn, BYU, USF, UCF, Memphis and long shots Boise State, Colorado State.

Cincy and BYU make the most sense at 12 geographically, there are obstacles with BYU because of their inability to play sports on Sundays. UConn and Memphis are both pushing hard as is USF who is in the process of adding on campus stadium in hopes of boosting their odds.

If it is 14, that could help a USF/UCF alliance for recruiting television markets.
