Guys, I caught up with another recent UC visitor, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) CB Allen Bryant. He's up to 11 offers now, including one from UC.
First off, a little backstory here. Bryant isn't ranked yet, but part of that is because he just transferred to Aquinas, which has been a national for a few years now. And this spring, schools have taken notice he's there now. So, I'd imagine his ranking will go up soon, likely a mid-three star.
Bryant visited UC Sunday and Monday with his parents for the first time and left campus Monday with an offer. He told me he loves the proximity of everything on campus, how he could walk to class from Nippert Stadium in just a few minutes. Bryant also liked the housing for student-athletes, watching practice and talking specifically with assistant coach Kerry Coombs. It sounds to me like those two really hit it off. Bryant loves Coombs' track record and who he's coached over the past few years, between Ohio State and UC.
The other guy Bryant talked a lot about was new defensive coordinator Bryan Brown. He told me he loves the defense he runs, how he coaches and how he runs his position meetings. But Bryant told me Coombs specifically told him "he'd coach me hard, but he'd work me into an NFL Draft pick."
On Saturday, Bryant visited Louisville with his parents and it sounds like that went good as well. But he told me interestingly, "It's completely opposite from Cincinnati. You have downtown, but (U of L) isn't as close to downtown." And I get the feeling that it's more negative with the Cardinals. Doesn't sound like he got the same feel there as he did with UC.
Right now, no other visits planned and he hasn't taken any others this spring. So that's big for UC to get that one big visit from him. And that Louisville didn't seem to go over as well. It will be interesting to see how the move to Aquinas goes. I imagine it will put him on more radars, so more offers. We'll see what comes next, but Bearcats in a good spot here.
Full story coming.
