Guys, I talked with one of the Bearcats' most recent offers, OL Ashton Craig from just over the Indiana line in Lawrenceburg. He has 23 offers, most recently from Baylor, Indiana, Northwestern, Wake Forest and Purdue, in addition to UC.
I think UC is in a good early spot here. Craig has been on campus a couple of times, just with a trainer to use the field and some of the facilities. But it's at least a place he's visited, in addition to the proximity. Craig hasn't been on campus anywhere else yet. He told me "I know they're becoming a great program, so it’d be cool to go up there and get to know everyone." Not saying the Bearcats are a favorite or anything, but it's enough to say they're in a good early spot.
Assistant coach Brian Mason made the offer and Craig told me they talk on the phone "pretty frequently." He might have today, but when we talked, Craig had not spoken with assistant coach Ron Crook, the OL coach, yet. So early vibes are positive.
Craig said he's had Zoom sessions with coaches at Boston College and Northwestern. Both of those went well, but he didn't have much to say about either. He also mentioned Purdue as another place of interest, that he's heard a bit from.
Still very early here, since he's only been to UC. But the Bearcats are smart to get in here. Proximity is a big deal to a lot of kids, with so much uncertainty. Full story coming.
