Guys, I talked with one of the offers UC made last month, Lipscomb Academy (Tenn.) 2023 three-star OL Brandon Solis. Very tall, lengthy kid who has offers from UC, Vanderbilt, Marshall and Eastern Kentucky right now.
Solis told me he's never been to Cincinnati and was only interested after assistant coach Gino Guidugli was at his school last month to extend the offer. Lipscomb Academy is the same school as new QB signee Luther Richesson, where the coach is former NFL QB Trent Dilfer. That's why Guidugli was there, but it's smart that UC got in early while there's some connection and the feelings are good between the Bearcats and Dilfer's staff. Solis said he likes that UC will be in the Big 12, the recent run of success and that "they're very kind and welcoming."
Again, since Solis hasn't visited, I think most of that impression is from Guidugli. He called Guidugli "a wonderful guy" and said he's eager to get to know him more. Doesn't sound like Solis will visit for the Bearcats' junior day on Jan. 29, but he said he wants to visit this spring, along with Texas A&M.
A&M and Alabama have been the ones really flirting here. Solis went to two Crimson Tide games this fall and has been at Vandy quite a few times because it's so close. I'm not sure if Solis will get to the point where Alabama will offer, but I do think he has four-star potential, thanks to his size. He's a bit raw, which is why he's not ranked that high right now. And I think he's absolutely worth UC taking a flyer on now, before he gets to that point. As of right now, it's too early to say Solis is leaning any direction.
Full story coming.
