Guys, another recent visitor for UC, this one from city school Colerain (OH), 2024 defensive back Corey Myrick. He's up to 12 scholarship offers, including from Marshall, James Madison and most of the MAC.
Just like the last INsider I had, Myrick is another local kid who I know the UC staff likes. But the strategy I think is more to cast a wider net and go after some bigger targets first. If a few of those fall through or the Bearcats don't feel good about them, THEN a kid like Myrick would be next up for an offer.
You always have to watch the Colerain kids, especially with Kerry Coombs' history there. Myrick said he's talked a lot to Coombs, including when Myrick was on campus for a UC practice on March 6. He told me he's now been on campus three times and loved the visit, loved the energy he saw from the coaches and players. Myrick told me Coombs recently visited Colerain and told him he'd be a Bearcat. And I like this quote Myrick specifically told me: "Being in Cincinnati, living here my whole life, I know how Clifton works. Knowing where it’s at, it’s kinda cool."
Of the offers he has now, Myrick told me he likes Marshall most, because they communicate and he feels like he has a good relationship there. But this is another case where I think if UC offers, that's instantly the top choice and the staff thinks that, too. Coming up, Myrick has visits to Ohio State March 23, Louisville April 7, Virginia Tech March 25, West Virginia April 22 and Marshall April 1.
If you'll notice, Myrick has UC"s spring game date of April 15 open. So it wouldn't surprise me if he visits. But this one is another wait and see. I know Coombs likes Myrick, but we'll have to wait on some other top targets and see if Myrick is still available.
Full story coming.
