Hey all, I caught up with another recent UC visitor, DeMatha (Md.) 2023 DB Dante Lovett. He and his mom visited for the Nov. 20 game against SMU, his first time in the Queen City.

Lovett has four offers, from UC, Boston College, Temple and Rhode Island. It sounds like Maryland and Penn State are flirting with him most and I'll get to them in a moment.

The visit to UC was also the first time Lovett said he met assistant coach Colin Hitschler in-person. It sounds like UC, even just based on that, isn't ready to go all-in on him yet. But getting Lovett and his mom to visit shows his interest level. On the visit, Lovett said he loved seeing the atmosphere, how the Bearcats attacked early and how they used the DBs. It sounds like what stood out most was that he got to spend a few minutes, one-on-one, talking with Ahmad Gardner. That's a good one for any recruit to talk to. But whatever was said really meant a lot to Lovett.

Getting to talk to the coaches sounds like it went well. Lovett didn't have as much to say about Hitschler, other than "he’s just cool and easy to talk to." But there's enough interest there to keep Lovett interested.

Lovett said he's lost count how many Maryland games he's been to. And he went to Penn State for its games against Michigan and Auburn. So the Nittany Lions could absolutely be one to offer soon. The connection at Maryland is that former DeMatha coach Elijah Brooks is on staff there. Same as it was for OL Michael Crounse, Lovett said Brooks has been in steady contact. But again, interestingly, no offer.

Still very early and no immediate visits planned. So, UC was able to get Lovett out of his comfort level and make a pretty good trip. We'll see, but if UC wants to go all-in, it's in a good spot.

Full story coming.
