Hey all, I caught up with one of UC's most recent offers, nearby Miamisburg (OH) tight end Jackson McGohan. He has three total offers now, also from UAB and Charlotte.
I'm gonna stop short of saying McGohan is a lock fore the Bearcats, but I don't think he's that far off. He told me, "UC is definitely the place I wanna go." I didn't take it as UC is where he's headed, but he's harbored thoughts of the Bearcats for a while, which is a huge plus.
McGohan did not visit UC last weekend, like a lot of others did. But he has been a few times before, including a pair of camps over the summer. Offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock is the main recruiter here and it sounds like they've gotten along well so far.
McGohan told me he's a hybrid tight end now, not a true tight end. He plays a lot on the end, but also likes playing in the slot and even out wide. He told me Denbrock and the Bearcats staff have talked a lot about Josh Whyle, his body type and how he plays at UC. That's how they see McGohan, which he said he really likes to hear. He told me he's been watching Whyle especially this season.
So instead of going to UC, McGohan was at Charlotte. He'd planned the visit before the offer and actually got the offer while on his way to Charlotte. McGohan said "it was amazing" and that he liked the smaller feel of the school and program. He also likes the staff there, too.
Next up, McGohan said he plans to be at UC for the Bearcats' game Nov. 20 against SMU. I don't expect a commit there, but I also wouldn't rule it out. The Bearcats are the clear favorites here. Sounds like he could be at Ohio State this weekend for the Purdue game. It wasn't set when we talked, but sounds like it's a likely thing.
Full story coming.
