Not much on the Louisville product, other than he's No. 7 in Kentucky for the 2022 class, after the rankings came out this week. So, I caught up with Northington to see what's going on.
Still has four offers, from UC, Indiana, Purdue and Boston College. The Bearcats offered in late April and seem to have made a big impact so far. Northington has yet to visit the campus, but told me, "That’s one of the schools I wanted to go to before high school." He likes the playing style, how the program has been successful of late and he likes the journalism school, which he wants to major in.
It's been a combination of running backs coach Dan Enos, quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli and coach Luke Fickell. Northington told me, "I get a good vibe. I get the vibe that they keep it real to their players and everybody." So i'll be honest, I think UC is in great shape.
But of the four offers, Purdue is the favorite. I didn't get explicitly why he likes the Boilers so much, but Northington told me, "That’s my number one." He likes the running backs coach, how Rondale Moore (also from Louisville) succeeded there and how the team looked when he watched them beat Ohio State. But like UC, he hasn't been.
The only visits Northington has taken are to U of L and Kentucky. He told me multiple times how he doesn't wanna go that far from home. And while those two haven't offered, if Louisville were to offer, that would immediately be the front-runner. I think if the Bearcats can ever get him on campus, they'd have a great shot. It's early, but it remains to be seen if the in-states offer and if/when he takes visits.
Full story coming.
