Guys, I talked earlier with one of UC's recent offers, Winton Woods (OH) 2023 product Jermaine Mathews. The Bearcats just offered last week.
Mathews told me he now has seven offers, also from West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Marshall, Toledo, Kent State and Boston College. He actually was at a UC game this fall, for the win over UCF. Mathews likes the success of the Bearcats' DBs and alluded to the potential for both Ahmad Gardner and Coby Bryant to be drafted in the first round. He also really likes assistant coach Perry Eliano, his main recruiter and the one who gave the offer. Mathews called him "a stand-up guy" and said he's enjoyed their talks. They've never met in-person though, oddly enough. Sounds like that will change next month, when Mathews goes for UC's first junior day.
The other school Mathews talked about most was Miami (OH). Strangely, no offer, but Mathews told me that was the first school to show interest. He also visited there for the game this fall against Central Michigan. He just really likes the coaching staff and plans to go to junior day there on Jan. 15.
Still quite early here. Mathews also went to Kentucky for the LSU game but hasn't been anywhere in a couple of months. We'll see what junior days he gets to, but I will say, the offer coming at this point from the Bearcats puts them in a good spot.
Full story coming.
