Guys, I caught up last night with one of UC's most recent visitors and offers, 2024 four-star WR Jerrae Hawkins, who goes by the nickname 'Tank.' The Bearcats offered him Saturday after he visited for the USF game.
Hawkins is originally from Fredericksburg, Virginia but has lived in Wheeling the past three years. The Bearcats have been checking in on Hawkins for the past couple of months, but I think they wanted to see if he had some interest in them. And sure enough, he did visit for the game, which was his first time in Clifton. Seems like it had a favorable impression on him. Hawkins told me he didn't know what to expect before the visit, but "Honestly, I liked it a lot."
Assistant coach Mike Brown is the primary recruiter here. Hawkins said they've found some commonalities and they talked quite a bit during the visit. "It's a good vibe," Hawkins said.
Aside from UC, Hawkins said he's been to games at Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Penn State. The only one that was negative was Pitt. He told me he just didn't really talk to anyone and didn't really hit it off there. But Hawkins did like the others and actually plans to be back at West Virginia Thursday for the Baylor game.
Hawkins told me the schools that "stand out" so far are UC, West Virginia and Penn State. It's early, as he only has seven offers, but with those three having offered, it puts them at a big advantage regardless of who else comes in. No other visits planned past this Thursday, but I think this one will go at least until early spring. I could see a decision possibly coming during junior days in January.
