Guys, I talked earlier with one of UC's higher priority targets for the 2021 class, North Hardin (Ky.) safety Jordan Lovett. He's stockpiled 12 offers so far, most recently from WKU, Georgia State, Missouri and Boston College.
UC has a good in because Lovett said the Bearcats were the first to offer, back in late October. He also visited for the Temple game back in November. And as it usually does for recruits, being first matters for Lovett.
Assistant coach Jon Tenuta had been the primary contact for Lovett. But here in recent months, Lovett said it's been defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman. And from talking to Freeman, Lovett said he feels like he's the Bearcats' top priority. And he's not far off. Lovett likes the relationship with Freeman and said he likes how they joke, but also get down to business.
For Lovett, he got in a TON of visits over the past few months, before the coronavirus hit. Lovett said he made visits to Ohio State, West Virginia, Missouri, Kentucky and Louisville. He
was supposed to go to Georgia Tech, Georgia State and Tennessee in recent weeks, but of course, all those were canceled. Surprisingly, he didn't talk much about Ohio State, but of those he's visited, I think he likes West Virginia the best. He spoke glowingly of coach Neal Brown and likes the Kentucky connections there.
Still plenty early here. Lovett didn't tell me anywhere standing out, but he did tell me the schools "slacking" in recruiting him are Tennessee, Purdue and Boston College, which I thought was interesting.
