Guys, no offer here yet from UC. But talked with a kid who's generating more and more buzz, Louisville Butler (Ky.) 2020 athlete Jordan Watkins. Does hold offers from Kentucky, Western Michigan, Central Michigan and some smaller schools.
This is a kid who UC has reached out to considerably and checked in with. Assistant coach Gino Guidugli has been the main recruiter here for the Bearcats. Watkins for sure could be one of the next offered UC makes, but keep in mind, it will only take three wide receivers, in all likelihood. So, the Bearcats have to make sure Watkins is the guy.
Watkins told me he and Guidugli have kept up, 'a lot.' And so far, Watkins said he likes what he's heard, that Guidugli is, "a great dude, really cool, really chill."
Kentucky has to be considered the favorite, being his biggest offer and in-state. He knows a couple of the commits there, John Young and Beau Allen, which also helps. But he's been non-committal of just how high the Wildcats are on his list.
I saw Watkins a few weeks ago at St. X for the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp and was very impressed. Nothing flashy or spectacular, but just goes about his business, consistently. Virginia Tech, West Virginia and a few others are sniffing around. So this could be a kid who has a good deal more options by the end of the summer. Keep an eye out here.
Full story coming.
