Guys, I just got off the phone with a guy who has been a big UC target, Carmel (Ind.) OL Justin Pickett. But it sounds like, as I'll get to, things have changed a bit.

Pickett said he's up to over 20 offers now. And a lot of what was buzz with him and the Bearcats is because he squeezed in a visit on March 9, the day before everything really went down with the coronavirus. Pickett said he went on that day so he could see a spring practice and see the coaches at work, how the players looked, etc.

Initially, it seems like that visit really put UC in great position. Pickett said he liked talking with assistant coach Ron Crook. But since that visit, the Bearcats have gotten commits from Mao Glynn, Luke Collinsworth and Landon Fickell. From everything I've been told, UC would take one more and that could be Pickett. But it sounds like he'd rather go somewhere with less competition at OL. "I’ve been talking to ‘em, but recently, they’ve had a lot of commits. I’m focusing on some other schools now. There’s interest, I just feel like at this time, I’m leaving it open to my options," Pickett told me.

That said, the school that has his attention most is Arizona. That offer just came in yesterday. And while it might seem odd, there's a connection. Assistant coach Kyle DeVan joined the Arizona staff last season, but spent the previous three at Ball State, where he recruited Pickett early on.

So right now, I think it's safe to probably move on from Pickett. UC will keep in touch for sure. There's not necessarily a need for Pickett, but the Bearcats would love to likely wrap up the OL group with a commit like his. So we'll see how much and if they pursue from here.
