Guys, I caught up earlier with Great Crossing (Ky.) three-star LB Kalib Perry. He was at UC on an official visit June 18 and was at Tennessee this past weekend for an official. On June 4, he was at Purdue and though he said he won't officially visit, Kentucky is a major player here, too. He did camp there June 24 and got an offer.

UC was the first team to offer Perry, on Feb. 1 of 2020, though Perry said it was second. Just something to keep in mind. He said he liked the visit and he loves how the coaches stay in constant contact. Assistant coach Gino Guidugli and former DC Marcus Freeman are who offered Perry last year, though Brian Mason has taken over a lot of the recruiting. Perry told me the official visit was the first time he'd met Mason in-person and that he's very relatable. Perry likes new DC Mike Tressel, too and said he likes that he can reach out to them any time and talk about football.

I'll go most recent to start, which was the Tennessee visit. Perry got an offer June 1 after he camped there and then went back for the official. It's one of the support staffers, Levorn Harvin, who has been the main contact, so that tells me he's not the top priority right now for the staff. Still he likes Harvin, who he calls "Coach Chop" and he said he loved talking with LBs coach Brian Jean-Mary. If the Vols do get serious soon, with a position coach, I think that might be the leader.

For now, I think it's Kentucky, with Purdue slightly behind. Perry said he's been to Lexington (obviously not far, like 30 min away), for plenty of gamedays and junior days and doesn't plan on taking an official visit there. And with Purdue, he likes coach Jeff Brohm and the culture around the program. The key thing is that Perry said he wants to study engineering, which obviously these four are good with. That's a big reason why this is arguably the top four, though he hasn't made a top list.

Right now, I'd say UC is fourth among these four teams. He has a lot of respect for the Bearcats, being the first offer, which is why I think he visited. I could be wrong, but he didn't talk about the Bearcats like he did Kentucky and Tennessee, especially. We'll see. If UT cranks up the effort, I think he goes there easy. If not, UK is the leader, with Purdue slightly behind.

Full story coming.
