Guys, I caught up with one of UC's visitors a few weeks ago, Martin Luther King (Mich.) three-star athlete Ken Merrieweather. He was at the Bearcats' April 3 spring practice.

Merrieweather is up to 13 offers and this spring visited UC, Purdue and Toledo. He'll be at Iowa this weekend. Merrieweather told me he's been to the city before, but this was his first time on campus. He told me he likes the feel of the program, the unity and how the coaches seem genuinely interested in all the players and want to help. Assistant coach Walter Stewart is the primary recruiter here and Merrieweather told me he gets "a strong energy vibe from him, hard coaching, good coaching." So the early feedback has been good. Merrieweather isn't a huge talker. So I had to ask multiple questions to pull out some info from him. That said, he didn't go super in-depth on much with the Bearcats. But I still think he likes them, based on what he did say and him visiting.

Maybe surprisingly, he spoke the most on Toledo, even more than Purdue. Good things to say about the Boilermakers, but Merrieweather talked more about Toledo. He likes the coaches and feels like he has an even better bond there. He also likes the underdog mentality there and how "they've had to work hard for it."

This weekend, Merrieweather is headed to Iowa for a visit. He has an offer, so this could be a big weekend and one that could really change things. I'll try to catch up with him afterward for an update, so keep an eye on how this weekend goes.

Full story coming.
