Guys, I caught up with one of UC's TOP targets for the 2023 class, four-star tight end Khamari Anderson. If you'll remember, it's been just a few weeks since he named a top three of UC, Michigan and Pittsburgh and he was back at UC this past weekend.
Even when I had an update on Anderson back in the fall, I felt like UC was in great shape. He kept talking about how he loved how the Bearcats used the tight end position, the success of guys that have come through, from Travis Kelce and Josiah Deguara to Josh Whyle and Leonard Taylor now. And that hasn't really changed.
Anderson said the visit this past weekend to UC was "probably the best so far." He visited with a few of his teammates, including Rivals250 DE Jalen Thompson and said they got to see the dorms, talk more with the coaches and get a better feel for the atmosphere. But this quote is the most telling: "They’re really starting to separate themselves from other schools right now." That, plus what I overall got from the interview is why I've made my FutureCast pick for the Bearcats. Still a ways to go, but it just seems like UC continues to surge ahead.
Anderson said the best part was talking with new tight ends coach Nate Letton. Specifically, Letton sat down with Anderson and his parents, broke down his film and compared him to Josh Whyle and Leonard Taylor. Letton went over specifically how Anderson could fit into the offense, what he does like those tight ends and how the offense will work around his game. Anderson said no other coach has done anything like that and that made a big impact on him.
Anderson said right now he has no other visit plans. He wants to see UC, Pitt and Michigan for spring practice. But the one school to really watch here that could creep in is USC. Anderson just got an offer from the Trojans last night, said his brother (Raheem Anderson, who plays for the Wolverines) never got a USC offer and it's the only other school Khamari said he wants to see. I still don't think it'll be enough, but he's intrigued, so you just never know.
But right now, again, I think UC has pushed ahead of the others. Still, keep an eye on where he does visit. Because it certainly isn't a done deal.
Full story coming.
