Guys, I spoke earlier with Green Run (Va.) three-star wide receiver Lakeem Rudolph, one of UC's more recent offers. The Bearcats offered him last Thursday, bringing his total to 12. That includes Virginia Tech, Temple, East Carolina and Southern Miss, some mid-major programs.
The offer from the Hokies is a huge offer here. That's obviously the lone power 5 offer and one that he's had an eye on for a while. Rudolph visited VT in March, but told me it's the one school that when he got the offer, "I went down that hallway (at his school) jumping in the air showing excitement. It was just excitement."
So, I say this because VT is definitely in the driver's seat. But by no means is this a done deal. Had UC been much later, I'd have said otherwise. But told me Cincinnati is the one school he plans to see this summer with his mom.
Assistant coach Mike Brown is the main recruiter here, which makes sense, because he's a Virginia guy and all his ties are there. Brown played at Liberty and is from Charlottesville. Expect a lot more offers to come from that area.
Overall, Rudolph said he's early in his recruitment, which should bode well for UC. He told me he likely won't make a decision until after this coming season, so he should be a February signee. Again, I think VT is the favorite, but UC can make up ground if he does visit.
Full story coming.
