Guys, just got off the phone a few minutes ago with one of the offers UC made this month, to three-star guard Lucas Taylor. His profile has been on the rise, with other offers of late from Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Howard and Creighton.
Taylor told me he feels pretty open for the time being and I don't get a sense that he's leaning towards anywhere right now, not even a group of schools. Because of covid, the only visits he's taken of any time were a few weeks ago to Clemson and Wake Forest. Taylor told me he and his family just drove through both on the way to a tournament. So he didn't get much of a look, but liked what little he did see. He plays for Garner Road and has one in Myrtle Beach next weekend.
With UC, Taylor told me it's been assistant coaches Jayson Gee and Tim Morris, predominantly. He has spoken to Coach John Brannen, too. Right now, it sounds like things have gone well and taylor likes the track record Brannen has developed. Taylor has even had some Zoom calls with some of the incoming guys, which also seem to have gone well.
I asked about Georgia Tech, since that's his most recent offer, but same kind of response. Likes what he's seen and heard and he had a Zoom call today with academic advisors from there.
The only thing Taylor really would say is he's cut out most of the mid-majors that have offered. He specifically mentioned Hofstra, Holy Cross, Elon, App State as being out. Other than that, not a ton here. But I know UC likes him, from what the staff has seen.
