Had some time this afternoon, so I also talked with another recent UC visitor, three-star OL Luke Burgess. He's now up to 10 offers, most recently from Kentucky and Missouri.
Burgess was at UC on July 28, the same day Mizzou offered. It was his first time at Clifton and he made the trip with his dad. Burgess told me, "I love the culture there." He also liked getting to talk in-person with Brian Mason, his primary recruiter. Apparently Mason is good friends with Burgess' coach, Kyle Ralph. When Mason was at the school two years ago to visit with a couple of older recruits, Burgess said he actually ran into him and spoke briefly. Obviously NCAA rules prohibit much conversation at that age. But Burgess remembers that moment well. Overall, he seems to really think highly of the Bearcats.
Most recently, Burgess was at Iowa State July 31 for the first time. But surprisingly, he didn't have a ton to say about the Cyclones. He did talk more about Kentucky, because that visit was for camp. He said he liked that it gave him an opportunity to work with OL coach Eric Wolford, which gave him more insight on the program.
It's still very early now and no visits currently planned. This one really seems very open for the time being, so interesting to see where he visits this fall for games.
