Guys, at 2 pm ET, just an update. Sounds like defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman is as good as gone. Barring something completely unforeseen, our sources tell us that he's set to become the defensive coordinator at LSU. He arrived back in Cincinnati last night and I'm told, immediately met with coach Luke Fickell and members of the coaching staff and administration. I'm also told that Fickell gave his blessing. There's absolutely no hard feelings or anything here with UC. Freeman has stayed in touch with Fickell every step of the way.

So, money-wise, our friends at the LSU Rivals site tell me they aren't sure of the details, but they expect Freeman to sign for roughly $2 million per season. That's certainly a huge upgrade from the $600k upgrade the Bearcats were set to give him in 2021. It would have gone to $675k in 2022.

No confirmation that the deal is done yet, but it could be by the end of the day. This won't drag out long. And barring something very unforeseen, we again expect Freeman to be official with LSU very, very soon.

More updates when available.
