Guys, I hadn't had a chance in a while to talk with Homewood Flossmoor (Ill.) guard Marcus Harper. UC offered last April, so it's been a while.
So, Harper is now up to 9 offers, three coming in the past two days, from Boston College, Northern Illinois and Bowling Green. Other offers are from the Bearcats, Western Michigan, Toledo, Central Michigan, Iowa State and Temple.
The only visit Harper has taken since the first of the year was to Iowa State not this past weekend, but the weekend before. He went to a basketball game and loves the feel there. The Cyclones are by far the favorite here right now. He told me flat out, they're on top.
With UC, it sounds like the Bearcats have dropped off a bit. Assistant coach Ron Crook has been in to see Harper at his school, as has assistant coach Gino Guidugli. But Harper said he hasn't heard from UC 'recently.' He never told me exactly how long that is, but did tell me, "I would like to start talking to them again." We'll see if the Bearcats make another move to get back in here.
Up next, Harper said he's going to Purdue March 30. He also plans on going to spring practices at Boston College and Iowa State, but no dates set. Sounds like Harper would like to get to UC, but is waiting to see if the Bearcats make a move.
