Guys, I just got off the phone with Northmont (OH) three-star WR Markus Allen. This kid has blown up in the last month or so, now up to 27 offers. That includes West Virginia, Iowa State, Syracuse, Purdue and Wisconsin.
I've talked to him regularly and he includes me on every offer tweet he makes, but the last time I did a full story on Allen was back in January. At that point, UC was one of the biggest offers he had. Allen told me the Bearcats are still in play, but I get the sense he's looking elsewhere more. He seemed to perk up with Purdue, Wisconsin and Iowa State. I'm not saying that's the top three, but he really likes 'em.
Allen said he does have a great relationship with defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman and that's the best thing UC has going for it. Allen said Freeman texts him almost every day during the coronavirus quarantining and a lot of them are video or photos of Freeman doing push-ups, telling Allen to do more work.
So the Bearcats aren't out of it, but they have their work cut out. The schools above are in great position and Allen said he wants to see Michigan State when he can, to check out the new staff. Allen had a top 10 that included UC, but he'll have a top 8 soon and it's not a definite the Bearcats will make that cut.
