Hey guys, I caught up with one of UC's newest offers, 2024 tight end Martavious Collins. The way the Bearcats use the position and the success here, I'll definitely try to talk to any TE prospects UC is looking at.
Collins told me it's a bit early, especially since schools are limited in contact with him being in the 2024 class. He's never been to Cincinnati and hasn't had a ton of contact with the coaching staff or anything yet. But Collins said he is aware of the Bearcats' success, including the College Football Playoff run last season, as well as the success the program has had with tight end.
Assistant coach Nate Letton made the offer here. I think their only conversation took place when the offer was made, but even from that, Collins said he "caught a good vibe" and liked that Letton asked some personal questions to get to know him. Seems like not a ton to go on, but positive.
The only visit Collins has taken of late was last month to Louisville for junior day. Seems like that visit went well, too. He told me he didn't think the school and city would be that big, but was pleasantly surprised with what he saw.
No set dates yet, but Collins said he does plan to see UC next month for spring practice. He also wants to get to NC State, Ohio State and Tennessee, so he'll be busy. NC State is the one he had a little more to say about. He hasn't been there, but he likes the relationship he's built so far with the coaching staff. Again, way too early, but if there's anyone to watch, it's the Wolfpack.
Full story coming.
