Guys, I spoke last night with Merrillville (Ind.) 2020 offensive tackle Martes Lewis. He's up to 8 offers, after UC offered April 29. Other offers include Indiana, Minnesota, Kansas and a few MAC schools.
With UC, Lewis told me he's never visited, but that he wants to this summer. I talked to his mom also, who told me the same, so that's a good bet on happening. But at this point, Lewis, who isn't too talkative, didn't have a lot to say about the Bearcats. He did tell me that he's liked the interaction with the coaching staff and how they "tell it like it is." But that's about the extent.
Ball State seems to be the one that's gained the most traction. Lewis' mom doesn't know a lot about football, but is familiar with Ball State, partly with proximity. They've visited multiple times, which says a lot. Minnesota was also mentioned quite a bit as Lewis and his mom both sound like they think the Gophers have been recruiting him hardest.
Lewis is not on social media. And coupled with his mom not knowing a lot about the process (I tried to explain, answer questions they had), this one will be hard to read. Lewis told me he'd like to have a decision by the end of the summer, but I'm thinking this one will probably go on a bit longer than that.
