Hey all, I spoke with one of UC's recent visitors and offers, DeMatha (Md.) 2023 three-star offensive lineman Michael Crounse. He now has eight offers, including from Pitt, Maryland, Michigan State and Louisville.
Crounse visited UC Nov. 20 for the SMU game. It was actually his second trip to Clifton, as he visited back in July after he was offered a scholarship by the Bearcats. Crounse said the main thing was he wanted to see the atmosphere at UC, especially on game day. He told me he liked his first visit, but it was quiet, since it was the summer.
This time, Crounse said he loved the atmosphere, the crowd and talking to the coaches. He told me, "They definitely are on a great trajectory and will continue to get better." He also likes the run of success UC is having and mentioned the recruiting success, too.
Assistant coach Colin Hitschler is the main recruiter here, but assistant coach Ron Crook has communicated more and more. Crounse said he talked to both coaches in-depth during his visit. He told me he likes both coaches' "values" and that he liked their personalities.
This past weekend, Crounse said he made his first visit to Rutgers for its game against Maryland. He told me he likes the tradition, that "they have one of the best stadiums I've seen" and that he likes the history of Rutgers being one of the first college football teams. Crounse actually lives in Allentown, Pennsylvania, so I also get the sense that the proximity to home is a factor. He didn't specifically say that, though.
The only other place Crounse has visited this fall was Maryland, for its game against Penn State. With Elijah Brooks, the former DeMatha coach being on the staff with the Terps, that makes a difference. Crounse said he also likes the renovations and upgrades the school has made to the facility, too.
No other visits set, but Crounse said he wants to see Penn State, Kentucky and Louisville next, so either the next few weeks or more likely after the first of the year. I do think UC will make whatever top list will come in the next couple of months. His visit and what he said tells me the Bearcats are a contender. But the others mentioned will be well worth watching, too.
Full story coming.
