Guys, I chatted a bit earlier with Archbishop Wood Catholic (Pa.) three-star DE Robert Jackson. A few weeks ago, he released a top 10 of UC, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Rutgers, Temple, Pittsburgh, Nebraska, Arizona State, Indiana and Syracuse.

First, I think it says a lot about where the Bearcats are that they're in a group like this with a kid not in their backyard. Really shows where the program is now and the work the staff is putting in here.

I had Jackson talk about each of his top 10 schools. Specifically with UC, he hasn't visited, but said he has a virtual visit he's trying to set up for the next week or two. My guess is sometime next week. He's talked mostly with assistant coach Greg Scruggs, as well as defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman. The biggest thing Jackson seemed to like was that he believes UC's defense is similar to what his high school team runs. So, he believes the transition would be smooth.

He's not giving a ton away. I can tell you right now he's not going to Syracuse. I think Indiana and Nebraska are longshots. If I had to say, it sounds like Arizona State is in a good spot, because of the coaches and their NFL experience, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech. Virginia is somewhat of a wildcard, because it's the only school that is looking at Jackson as a tight end. He says he wouldn't mind, but I don't think that's a big thing for him, playing on offense.

The big thing is Jackson wants to see more schools, including the ones he likes most. He went to Rutgers and Temple already before Covid and I think if it were either or those, he probably would have committed already.

UC is in the middle of the pack here. But no way the Bearcats steal him unless he can somehow get in an in-person visit. I do think he's at least intrigued by UC. But with so much unknown, it's up in the air if he'll ever even get to Clifton.

Full story coming.
