Guys, I talked earlier with Country Day (Mich.) three-star safety Saborn (pronounced SAY-Born) Campbell. The Bearcats just offered on Tuesday, but there's a lot more to this one.

First off, Campbell is already committed to play baseball at Stanford. He committed nearly two years ago and like his dad John told me, "When you get that baseball offer, you don’t know how everything is gonna unfold, or holding out to see what’s gonna come. Going through the process, I was like, ‘I don’t think it’s gonna get any better.’" Saborn has always been a great centerfielder in baseball and has offers from schools like Purdue and some MAC schools. It sounds like they weren't sure if any football offers would come.

Last month, Michigan State offered. John played football at Michigan State from 1987-91. That offer seems to have changed everything. Saborn talked about growing up around that program, going to a ton of games, and obviously being a legacy there. And right now, that seems like the clear favorite.

It sounds like Saborn right now isn't sure what to make of UC. I will say, he's looking around because he wants to find somewhere that will allow him to play both football and baseball. UC and Michigan State have said yes to that, while Stanford has said 'wait' for football. Dan Enos has been the primary contact for the Bearcats. And it sounds like right now they haven't talked much. But they're supposed to talk tomorrow and Saborn said he's supposed to talk to Luke Fickell, too. So that could change things after those conversations.

Dartmouth has also offered, too, but I'm not sure how much of a contender that is. So three schools are telling Saborn he can play both sports. If Stanford says he can play football, though, it sounds like a done deal there. Soooo, lots of waiting and seeing at this point, but an interesting story for sure.

Full story coming
