Guys, just got off the phone a few minutes ago with Trotwood-Madison (OH) three-star DB Sammy Anderson. He officially visited UC June 21 and I hadn't had a chance to catch up with him.
First off, it sounds like the Bearcats official went well. He likes assistant coach Mike Mickens and he said they have a lot of playful smack talk, since Mickens went to Wayne HS, one of the big rivals of Trotwood-Madison. But overall, sounds like they have a good bond going. Anderson said he's now been to UC 6 or 7 times. He likes everything he's seen and it sounds like that's waaaay more than he's visited anywhere else.
Interestingly, Anderson officially visited Pittsburgh the weekend before. And he said he was ready to commit there, but the Panthers filled up on DB commits before he could. But that said, it sounds like UC was the next choice.
Still, he's opened things up a bit since Pitt is out. At first, Anderson said he didn't want to get into specifics about who he's narrowed his list down to. And I'm not gonna put it in the story, because I don't think he's ready to put it out there for everyone, but he said his top 8 now is: Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Indiana, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Iowa State and West Virginia. He loosely has an official visit planned to Iowa State July 27 and said he'll likely take the other two right now, at some point early in the season to Penn State and West Virginia. That could change, however.
I know Anderson has already visited UC a bunch and it sounds like he wants to commit really early in the season. So unclear if he'll get back to UC for a visit. It sounds like the Bearcats should be in good shape, but I'm not sure. Visiting UC that many times, then wanting to take more officials, I'm just not feeling great here. We'll see how the next few months play out. This one won't drag out very long at all.
Full story coming.
