Guys, I talked last night with three-star athlete Tyler Griffin. UC offered on March 3, though he's also added other offers recently from Nebraska, Ole Miss and Kentucky.
The key thing here is that even though that UC offer is so recent, he's already taken a virtual visit with the Bearcats. That's the only virtual he's taken so far. That took place March 6, just after that offer came. Griffin said the virtual did help his perception of the university and football program, though he was quick to say virtual visits don't offer a lot of information. Still, from what he saw, he said he liked the housing for freshmen, where nearly every football player lives and he also likes what he's seen from the city of Cincinnati itself.
It's been a combination of assistant coach Mike Brown and defensive coordinator Mike Tressel here. Griffin said both coaches have talked about recruiting him as an athlete, with the possibility of playing wide receiver or linebacker. Griffin didn't have a ton to say about the coaches, other than he likes their personalities and likes the talks they've had.
Griffin hasn't taken any in-person visits to this point and with the NCAA dead period set to expire at the end of May, it seems like he's waiting until then to make some visits. He told me he wants to see Kentucky and Ole Miss first, but after that, he's not sure. I would think he would get to UC whenever he does take that Kentucky visit. But we'll see. I don't get the sense that he's leaning one way or the other, but it could be telling that he at least has good interest in the Bearcats since he took a virtual visit that soon after he was offered.
Full story coming.
