Guys, I literally just got off the phone with one of UC's latest offers, 2020 four-star center Zach Loveday. He's from Gallipolis, close to Portsmouth, and was headed back to Huntington Prep.
The Bearcats offered Loveday almost two weeks ago, after seeing him in Dallas at the Adidas Gauntlet. He told me he has 11 offers, including from Baylor, Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue and Xavier.
Even though it's been almost two weeks, it doesn't sound like he's taken a ton of interest in the Bearcats. He told me coach John Brannen personally offered him over the phone after seeing him in Dallas.
"I just know that the guys are new, the staff came from Northern Kentucky," Loveday told me. "That’s really about as much as I know. That was completely out of the blue."
He told me he wants to keep an eye on UC, but honestly, I'm not sure if there will be much interest. Loveday didn't get into specifics on anyone he's narrowed it down to, but he just came off an official visit, his first, to Baylor. He told me he liked a lot of aspects about the Bears, including how clean the campus was, how new everything looks. So obviously, Baylor is in this one pretty soundly. Others involved are Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State and Purdue.
There's still time for UC. But they need to get in quick before the July evaluation period. He'll finish his officials after that and I'd expect a decision in September.
Full story coming.
