  • Brandon Garcia, Assistant Director of Football Sports Performance
  • MyQuon Stout, Assistant Football Sports Performance Coach
  • Scott Ethington, Assistant Football Sports Performance Coach
Friend spent the last five years as a member of the Ohio State performance staff. Stout spent the previous four seasons as an assistant strength coach for the University of Louisville football program. He started 38 of 39 games over his final three seasons at Appalachian State, tallying 82 tackles and earning All-Sun Belt Conference honorable mention honors as a junior.
Ethington previously served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Marshall, beginning in the role in January of 2022. He worked with both the football and softball programs. Hey y'all, I talked earlier with one of the biggest 2024 Cincinnati area products, four-star DE Elias Rudolph from Taft (OH). Rudolph released a top 10 on Christmas day of Cincinnati, Ohio State, Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan State, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Michigan and Pitt.

First off, I'm gonna give it to you straight. I asked him if he liked the idea of playing close to home, in front of family and friends. Rudolph told me, "Not really. I just wanna get out of the city." So, that's not to say that Rudolph won't change his mind, because I've seen a lot of guys do that, once it really sinks in that they won't be home. But UC has that battle to fight. This will be anything but a gimme.

Rudolph does like UC itself. He told me he likes how the school is "elevating," since it will be in the Big 12 starting next summer. And he loves assistant coaches Kerry Coombs and Walter Stewart. Rudolph said he has a lot of respect for them and also believes they're honest with him.

No visits in the last few months, but he has one junior day set, Jan. 14 to Michigan State. He likes the Spartans a lot and said he's eager to see it for the first time and talk more with the coaches. The darkhorse to really watch here is Pittsburgh. Rudolph told me the Panthers recruit him harder than anyone and have visited him most. He probably said the best stuff about Pitt and Ohio State. I'd imagine he'll see both of those soon.

So, don't give up on this one. But know that UC has a battle ahead for Rudolph and Coombs and Stewart will go full force.

Guys, I also talked with 2024 TE Jacob Simpson, who hasn't gotten a ton of looks yet, but who also recently got a UC offer. Has five total, also from Louisville (re-offered by new staff), Missouri, Vanderbilt and Texas Tech.

Simpson told me the coach who re-offered from UC and who he's talked to most is Scott Satterfield himself. He likes that Satterfield is so close and welcoming with players and makes sure they're around the coaches' families. Simpson said he visited Louisville for the NC State game last month and said he really enjoyed being around Satterfield and the other coaches. As far as UC itself, Simpson has never visited, so he told me he doesn't know a ton yet. But he's already eyeing a visit for an upcoming junior day, when those get sorted out.

I did ask about where things stand with the Cardinals, since all the coaching turnover and Simpson told me, "I don’t have much change in Louisville. I think it's still one of the best programs." So I'd imagine a swing where he visits Louisville and Cincinnati on the same trip east, for junior days or even just visits.

It is important to note that Simpson is also playing basketball this winter, so that limites when and where he can visit. He'll definitely get in some spring practices, but when I asked if he was waiting until then, he told me, "Well, I may get an open weekend or a couple of days to get junior days." So I think he's eyeing any potential break in the action, but we'll see how that also decides when and where he visits.

FB Recruiting ***INsider: David Eziomume***

Hey y'all, as I mentioned in another thread, I had the flu most of last week, which really put me out of commission. Getting back into things this afternoon, one of the guys I caught up with was one of UC's recent offers, 2024 Rivals250 RB David Eziomume. He was offered by Louisville as well, so he's another offer who's carrying over with the new staff.

Eziomume told me he doesn't know much about UC itself or the city or anything right now, since he's never visited. But the one thing he did tell me was he knows about the move to the Big 12 and likes that it means good competition next season.

Eziomume was offered by assistant coach De'Rail Sims, another newcomer from the Cardinals' old staff. He told me he and Sims have text messaged back and forth quite a bit, but he didn't specify a ton, since it's the dead period right now. Eziomume said he did appreciate being re-offered by Sims and said it meant a lot, since he didn't have to, but chose to stick with him and the offer.

I get the sense that the two somewhat leaders at this point are Clemson and Georgia Tech. Clemson is the last visit he made, for the South Carolina game and you can tell there's excitement with the Tigers. And Eziomume also likes the idea of playing close to home at Georgia Tech, just down the road from where he lives. No junior days or anything planned at the moment, but he told me he wants to see Clemson, GT, South Carolina and possibly Arkansas.

No mention of the Bearcats as far as junior days and visits go, so we'll have to wait and see. But there is interest and Eziomume is still in contact with Sims, which is a plus.
