FB Recruiting Duke Watson Update

Hey all, just following up my previous INsider. Watson didn't say, but I think Georgia Tech is the leader here. Visited there last, headed there this weekend, close to home and he visits a lot, trains in the stadium. UC has work to do, just offering this week:

Football Corleone Named FWAA All-American

Release from UC:

Cincinnati defensive tackle Dontay Corlone collected Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America accolades on Thursday.

He is the first Bearcat to collect FWAA Freshman All-America honors since cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner accomplished the feat in 2019.

The Cincinnati native and Colerain High School product appeared in 11 games for the Bearcats, tallying 45 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, three sacks and two forced fumbles. Corleone helped lead a defense that ranked fifth in the country in yards per play allowed (4.61).

He finished as the nation’s highest-graded defensive player with a rating of 93.9 according to Pro Football Focus.

Corleone collected All-AAC First Team honors and Third Team All-America accolades from the Associated Press and PFF.

Hey y'all, I caught up with one of the Bearcats' recent in the spate of offers, 2024 RB Duke Watson. He now has 17 offers, including from Penn State, Georgia Tech and Kansas State.

Watson said he's not too familiar with UC at this point. The only thing he said he knew was that the running backs have been good for the Bearcats and he remembers watching Jerome Ford, especially when they played Georgia two years ago in the Peach Bowl. Watson has only talked briefly with assistant coach De'Rail Sims, but said he thought Sims was "a cool guy" and liked how they talked about non-football-related things.

The one that seems to be in the best shape right now is Georgia Tech. That was the last visit he took, for the Jackets' game against Virginia Tech in November. But it's the next visit he plans to take, this weekend for a junior day. After that, Watson said he'll visit Penn State for a junior day Jan. 21. I do think he likes the Nittany Lions, but he mentioned multiple specific coaches with the Jackets that he likes and that it's close to home. So I think the edge goes there.

The hope is that UC can get Watson on a visit soon, if not later this spring and I do think he'll visit at some point. But he told me he already think he knows where he's gonna go, that he's just making sure right now with visits. So if the visit doesn't happen soon, I'm not sure if it will happen.

Full story coming.
