Hey all, this UC staff has put more of an emphasis on Tennessee. Here's one of those offers, Riverdale (Tenn.) wide receiver Brock Montgomery, whom the Bearcats offered Jan. 26 and he now has seven total offers.
Login to view embedded media Montgomery said he's been to Cincinnati, just not on campus in Clifton. But when I asked what he knows and thinks about the school, he told me he knows about the recent run of success, Sauce Gardner and Desmond Ridder and he's definitely interested. Montgomery got the UC offer from assistant coach Kerry Coombs. They only talked momentarily, but Montgomery said Coombs told him they wanted to offer him as an athlete, with the possibility to play defense.

That was something I specifically talked with Montgomery about. He told me he'd prefer to play wide receiver. He likes it best and feels comfortable there, but he said he's open to playing defense, if it will get him on the field quicker. Montgomery said he also plays safety and cornerback in high school.

According to Montgomery, the offer from Louisville still stands, as the new staff reached out and re-affirmed the offer. But the one he seems enamored with is Clemson. He'll have to really blow it up to get attention there. But if he does, that's the one to really watch. Until then, I think the Bearcats have a great chance here.

MOBILE, Ala. – Cincinnati linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. tallied a game-high 10 tackles to earn Defensive MVP honors and lead the National Team to a 27-10 victory in the Reese's Senior Bowl on Saturday at the University of South Alabama's Whitney Stadium.

Pace Jr. was joined by fellow Bearcats, tight end Josh Whyle and wide receiver Tre Tucker, on the victorious National squad at the annual all-star game for likely NFL prospects.

Whyle had one catch for 13 yards, while Tucker had one grab for 18 yards to go along with a 12-yard rush.

For Pace Jr., who was a late selection for the game, it concluded a remarkable final collegiate season. The Cincinnati native and Colerain High School alum finished in the Top 10 in the nation in tackles (137), tackles for loss (21.5) and sacks (10) en route to becoming the Bearcats' first-ever unanimous All-American.

Pace Jr. played only one season for the Bearcats after transferring from Miami (Ohio), but he made the most of it and is poised – along with Whyle and Tucker – to play football at the next level.

Next up, the trio, along with several other Bearcats, will participate in the NFL Scouting Combine, which will run from March 2 to 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Hey guys, I caught up with Rivals250 WR Alex Taylor, who released a top seven on Wednesday of UC, Virginia Tech, Clemson, NC State, North Carolina, Penn State and Tennessee. So I had him break down each of the seven.
Login to view embedded media Taylor told me he really likes UC and that assistant coach Josh Stepp was who offered and who he's been in contact with most. He's yet to set foot in Clifton, but Taylor told me he likes the recent success the Bearcats have had, that they're moving to the Big 12 and that the coaches have told him they plan to open up the offense and throw more. No visit set, but he said he plans to visit UC sometime this spring.

The two I'd really watch here are Virginia Tech and Clemson. He just went to Clemson's junior day and I can tell he loves everything about that place. He won't tell me, of course, or maybe doesn't know if it was true, but I think Clemson is slow-playing him here. I'm not sure they'd take the commit right now if he wanted to go there. Taylor is a hell of a receiver, but I know the Tigers have offered some big ones. But Clemson will be in this til the end.

With VT, if that wasn't his first offer, it was close. The Hokies have been on him for at least two years, going back to the previous staff and Justin Fuente there. He's visited a ton and they are constantly in contact. VT has a history of taking Greensboro guys, including Hendon Hooker, who spent his first three seasons with the Hokies. And I do think Taylor has a high level of comfort there.

It'll be telling where Taylor goes this spring and I do think it's a good sign that UC is in the top list even though he's never visited. But they've gotta get him up soon.

UC at No. 18

I've checked with the UC staff and he has two seasons of eligibility. He'll arrive on campus this summer, to be a bridge for Jizzle James and any of the older guys who return:

REALLY great news here. Four-star Alex Taylor, from Greensboro, NC, has put UC in his top seven, along with Virginia Tech, UNC, NC State, Clemson, Tennessee and Penn State. I do think the Bearcats are towards the back of that group, but they're in it.

UC had made Selm a priority the past month or so. I thought he'd go at least through the spring, but he's committed to Kentucky. My guess is the Bearcats will stay in touch, but that will be a tough one to flip.

Hey y'all, I caught up with one of UC's recent offers, who has really been blowing up here of late. He has 14 offers after Louisville, Missouri and Boston College all offered scholarships yesterday.

UC offered Dennis on Jan. 12 and he visited for junior day on Jan. 22. He told me he liked seeing the dorms and the facilities, sitting in on position meetings and talking with assistant coach Nic Cardwell. But it sounds like what stood out most was his one-on-one talk with coach Scott Satterfield. Dennis said they talked for at least 10 minutes. Now, Dennis said he talks to Cardwell every few days, including just before this interview. Dennis told me overall, "I like the energy, the offense they run and there can be some good stuff going at Cincinnati." So I do think the Bearcats are in a great spot, also considering that he visietd for junior day, so quickly after the offer came.

I didn't get a chance to really ask about the three new offers, so not sure how they exactly figure in. But the one to really watch here is Michigan State. The Spartans haven't offered, but I can tell he's really hoping for one. He was at their junior day on Jan. 14. Dennis really detailed the mental health resources available at Michigan State and the coaches and how warm they are towards him. He also told me he'll definitely be back for spring practice.

Other than the Spartans, Dennis also went to junior day Jan. 13 at Illinois and to Toledo and Miami (OH). Dennis said this spring, he definitely wants to see Ohio State, Michigan State and Illinois. He didn't mention UC in this instance, but I'll be surprised if he's not back this spring. So right now, Illinois is the one to watch, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Michigan State come in late and offer, which will likely change everything here.
