Hey all, I wanted to get some more scoop on another visitor and offer from this past weekend, so I caught up with Stebbins (OH) 2024 OL Jake Wheelock. He visited for junior day on Sunday and also left with a scholarship offer from the Bearcats.

Wheelock had been to UC for a game last fall and also camped last summer with the previous staff. But it sounds like he didn't feel like there was a ton of interest until Satterfield became coach and brought on assistant coach Nick Cardwell. There had been some talks, but both coaches stopped by his school on Friday, which is when Wheelock decided he'd visit for the junior day. I love this quote from Wheelock: "It was snowing, so we were pushing cares to get there, but I wanted to get there." It just sounds like he made a huge effort to get to UC on Sunday.

Wheelock seems to really like Cardwell. He told me he liked his youth, energy and "he's someone who will give tough love but will make you your best player." So right now, it's very fair to say the Bearcats are in a great spot.

That said, Virginia Tech is the team to especially watch out for here. The Hokies offered back in the fall, so they have a jump. Wheelock is also visiting there this weekend for junior day. So far, he's been to junior days at Eastern Michigan, Toledo and Western Michigan. But now that UC is involved, I think this one is really between the Hokies and Bearcats for now.

Full story coming.

FB Recruiting ***INsider: Francis Brewu***

Hey all, as I've posted previously, I'll be spending a lot of time catching up with the visitors from this past weekend, over the coming weeks. The first one I just happened to make contact with is Worthington (OH) DT Francis Brewu, who picked up a UC offer during the junior day yesterday. He has seven total offers right now.
Login to view embedded media Brewu told me he went to camp last summer at UC, but didn't see a lot, so this was his first thorough look at the school. He didn't get into a ton of specifics on the visit itself, but said he talked one-on-one with coach Scott Satterfield for 10 minutes, which is when the offer was made. Brewu talked a ton about how impressed he was that Satterfield told him he watched film of every player that was offered yesterday. Satterfield even talked about specifics from the film. Brewu told me he doesn't know any other head coaches who do that. I know a lot do, but I get his point, since many also leave it to the coordinators or assistants to watch recruit film.

Assistant coach Walter Stewart is the lead recruiter here and Brewu said they've really gotten along. "Coach Stewart was a great guy, very nice," Brewu told me. "You can tell he’s a great coach and one I’d love to get to know more."

It just seems like this visit has really thrust the Bearcats to the top of the list right now. Five of the offers Brewu has are from the MAC. He just visited Ohio and Miami (OH), but since he saw Miami, the coach recruiting him left. Iowa State is the other power five school that has offered. Brewu will be at Pittsburgh this weekend and he thinks an offer could come from that. That wouldn't surprise me. So UC is in at a great time here. But it's still early and he'll visit a lot more schools this spring.

Full story coming.

FB Recruiting Junior Day Visitors

Hey all, tomorrow, UC will be hosting its first junior day of the year, in the Scott Satterfield era. The staff is still working on even today, adding a few visitors to the list of attendees. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but will give you an idea of some of the recruits to expect tomorrow. I'll be catching up with some on Sunday and throughout the next couple of weeks, to get a rundown of how their visits went. I'll be adding to this list as I confirm.
