Hey guys, I caught up with another UC target of interest so far, three-star CB Deshawn Stewart. He's sitting at 20 offers right now.

I'd reached out to Stewart because he was originally scheduled to visit UC Jan. 27 for junior day. He cancelled and I wanted to make sure it wasn't because of a fallout or anything. Stewart told me it was simply bad weather and his flight got cancelled.

With UC, Stewart said he still hasn't visited in-person. That visit would have been his first to Clifton. But Stewart still talks every few days with assistant coach Kerry Coombs. And right now, Stewart told me, "It’s mostly Coach Coombs that has me interested." So that connection has paid off so far. He told me Coombs visited last month, which was big. Stewart talked a lot with former defensive coordinator Bryan Brown, but I don't think there's been any contact with Tyson Veidt just yet.

Stewart did visit West Virginia Jan. 13 and told me he's working on visits coming up to UC, Ohio State, Penn State and South Carolina. Big bummer he couldn't get to Cincinnati when he tried to, but it's imperative the Bearcats get him for a spring practice.

It sounds like Stewart will have a top list after spring practice, if not before then. So since he hasn't been to UC, it's hard to say where the Bearcats are. BUT, if they can't get him soon, this one's s no-go.

Full story coming.

Hoops UC to Host TBT

Featuring Nasty Nati, a collection of some recent former UC grads. Was played at Xavier last year. Release from UC:

The Basketball Tournament (TBT), the 64-team, $1 million winner-take-all event, today announced that the University of Cincinnati and Fifth Third Arena will serve as a host site for one of TBT's regional events in 2024. Nasty Nati, the Cincinnati alumni team, will be the host team in the eight-team regional event to take place July 19-24.

This will be the first time Fifth Third Arena has held a TBT regional since the event started playing in Cincinnati in 2022.

Nasty Nati, who will be competing in TBT for the third straight year, advanced all the way to TBT's quarterfinals in Dayton last year, knocking off Floyd Mayweather's The Money Team and Xavier alumni team Zip 'Em Up along the way.

"My staff and I are excited to have Nasty Nati as a regional host," said Cincinnati men's basketball head coach Wes Miller. "Our alumni are passionate about this place, so the chance to play on their home floor in the pursuit of a title will be an awesome thing to see. I know our fans will be thrilled to see some of their favorite faces back in Fifth Third Arena and give them incredible support."

"Last year's Nasty Nati team was exciting to watch," said TBT founder and CEO Jon Mugar. "The Cincinnati fan support was equally as impressive, as they showed out at both Cintas Center and UD Arena. That's why we are rewarding them with home court advantage this summer in partnership with the University of Cincinnati. We can't wait to experience the environment at Fifth Third!"

Jacob Evans and Jarron Cumberland, Nasty Nati's two leading scorers in 2023, have both committed to the team for 2024. Kevin Johnson will also return as the team's general manager.

"I'm incredibly excited for TBT to come to the University of Cincinnati and Fifth Third Arena," said Nasty Nati GM Kevin Johnson. "None of this would be possible without the Bearcats fan base, who helped propel us to the quarterfinals last year. We'll need everyone to pack Fifth Third this summer and help us bring the $1 million prize back to Cincinnati."

Additional roster and staff announcements will be made in the coming months through the team's X account, @NastyNati_TBT.

Since TBT began in 2014, it has awarded more than $13M in prize money and has been viewed in more than 180 countries around the world. Alumni teams have won TBT's championship the four of the past five summers, with teams representing Ohio State, Marquette, Syracuse, and the University of Buffalo taking home the $1M prize between 2019-2022. TBT is also the home of the Elam Ending, the alternate ending to games where teams play to a target score. The Elam Ending was adopted by the NBA for its All-Star Game from 2020-23 and is now being used in G League games as part of their overtime format.

Tickets for the 2024 Cincinnati Regional will go on sale at a later date. To be the first to secure tickets for the event, fans can sign up for TBT's waitlist at thetournament.com/tbt/tickets/.

Hey all, I should be able to get a full story up later, but wanted to drop a little bit here on a prospect I just talked to, Glen Allen (Va.) 2025 DB Kamden Tiller. Right now, he has four offers: Virginia Tech, West Virginia, East Carolina and Old Dominion.
Login to view embedded media So, no offer yet, but UC has been in regular contact. Specifically, that's been assistant coach Kerry Coombs. Tiller told me they message a lot and multiple times a week, Coombs has sent him motivational quotes or messages. Coombs has also sent videos from campus and the facilities and Tiller told me their relationship is quickly building.

Tiller is set to visit UC March 29 for spring practice. if an offer doesn't come before then, this is a kid I'd expect will get an offer when he visits. He's also visiting East Carolina on March 23 and I'd expect him back at Virginia Tech.

Tiller did visit the Hokies recently, on Jan. 29 for a basketball game against Duke. Right now, I think VT is the other major player here. But again, that visit could be very telling moving forward.

Full story coming.

Hoops Recap/Post Game Video: Houston 67, UC 62

A big run at the end of the first half and a run to start the second for UC, but not enough the rest of the way. This would have been a BIG resume builder. Makes it even more important to finish strong now:
